ouchhh.... how long you had it mate?
You might be able to get it repaired/replaced even if it's out of warranty, items need to last a reasonable period regardless of what warranty they give you.
bought it 18/8/06 for £1100. Spoke to LG and they said try the Yellow pages!
Who did you buy the TV from?
I wouldn't call 18 months a reasonable lifespan for an item costing £1100.
Not fit for purpose is the key phrase here
Get it in the legal section mateIn English Law, there is a Six Year window for 'damages' and in Scottish Law it is Five Years from discovery. This means, that if the item proves to be faulty within the first Six Years, you are entitled to have the item repaired, by the seller at their expense. This is a maximum time limit not a minimum and will vary depending on the item and what would be deemed as reasonable. For instance, it wouldn't be reasonable to expect a watch battery to last 6 years. But totally reasonable for a TV or other similar home appliance.

Why not let it accidently fall off the wall smashing into little pieces, not saying that its the right thing to do but could be covered by home insurance then.....
If bought on a Credit Card, do you now get some extra cover as well?????
Cut me open and I Bleed Red
Accidents happen though and as long as it becomes damaged in a believeable way then what can they do? I'd try speaking to Curry's customer relations team and quote the not fit for purpose thing and see where you get first. Advise them that if you don't get the response you want you'll write in and take it up with trading standards etc. They might do it as a good will gesture. Also it might be good to ring up 10 mins before they close as the person on the phone won't want a lenghty complaint call and just do it for you because they want to go home?
Robbo, I'd get some home and contents insurance better to be safe then sorry if the house suffers any damage or gets broken into.
Sorry, can't offer any valuable input, but just made me think of this YouTube - Bang - Gorky Park
“If I asked you to have sex with me, would the answer to that question be the same as the answer to this question?”
Cheers Cronus, I'm more of a Van Halen fan from that era really lol
I was gonna post EXACTLY what Ganty posted...but im about 3 hours too late!
As said, by law they are obliged to repair or replace it! So just quote the sales of goods act in Gantys post and threaten them with trading standards & court!
If they say they wont fix it, then begin a small claims proceedings, I did this a very long time ago with regards to a Sony Ericsson T68i and a large network operator!
The courts give the store a deadline to respond, and in my case the store/network operator lawyers never responded until the cut off day! The even phoned me up to "settle out of court", but by that point it was too late for them, the courts had went in my favour, so I told them where to shove it! I got my money back (£150) and they had re-emburse me all the court fees (think its about £50 - £60) cos they lost!
