yeah i saw this show up in the torrent feed, but ignored it cos i couldnt find any info about it.
i think its some australian mini-series.
This is taken from the NFO on Newzbin
1 - The Black Prince: New Australian drama series about the true story of the year gangland war that shocked Australia. Charming gangster Alphonse Gangitano, also known as The Black Prince, gets away with murder but finds himself in a deadly feud with the ruthless Moran Brothers.
2 - Sorcerers Apprentice: Small time crim Carl Williams takes the first steps towards building his own empire as the police renew their efforts in trying to crack the powerful "Carlton Crew" gang.
Sounds promising. Will give it a look.
I've just watched the first episode. If this wasn't a true story about an area I'd lived in and lived in during some of the events that will probably unfold in later episodes there's really no way I'd be watching the second episode now.
It isn't bad for australian television but it's really not particularly good.
im glad i followed my gut and saved myself the bandwidth lol
aussie telly is shocking.
To be honest after watching episode 2 I really wanted to see the third instalment. I think that's down to the story and the locale like I said though as much as anything else. To be fair to the people who made the show they've started it right at the beginning. What they termed as The Melbourne Gangland Wars only actually began some two or three years after the events that they detail in the first two episodes so they're being pretty comprehensive about telling the whole thing right.
What lets it down is the shoddy production values and some pretty woeful acting here and there. The soundtrack is obscenely awful as well. Really grating.
Vince Colosimo won'[t be in it after episode 2 either and he looked to be the only actor with any real talent there. What we're left with is the lad who was Blake off Home and Away.
Downloaded it but won't bother. The only acting I like from Aus is the little bitches in bikinis on the beach in Home and Away. I did like The Secret Life of Us for some reason as well though.
This is actually pretty good. I've watched 6 or 7 episodes now and it's very easy viewing. Some of the performances are actually very good especially the main guy who plays Carl Williams and this new character Benjy. A few hotties in it too. Madeline West is well fit.
I've just watched the twelth and penultimate episode and it's been cracking good fun. Fuck me they were a vicious lot in Melbourne. Such a nice city too. Eps 11 and 12 were lovely. The production values just sky rocketed and the soundtrack got much better. In episode 12 they use the Hans Zimmer score from Thin Red Line and nicely too. Soundly edited and and well played out.
Well done, aussie tv, you've actually shit on anything contemporary that we've produced in the UK for donkeys years.
The second season of this has just started. It seems to be decent enough thus far. Started off much better than the first one.
ive just d/loaded the first series.
im onto episode 4 now and got to admit i think its getting pretty good.
quite interested in how carl williams works his way up and becomes australias biggest serial killer.
just looked carl williams up on wipedia.
he ordered the killing of 4 people..thought australia had worse killers than that?
unless theres more that he hasnt been convicted for
Convicted for four, probably responsible for more. I eally liked the first series. Second one isn't quite as good but still very watchable.
