Lol it's not easy mate. Try using software first to get to grips with it before you splash out.

VirtualDJ is what I have used in the past for a few remixes.

Then if you like go down to cash converters or equivilent and see what they have, I would advise Numark for qualityrice ratio, although pioneer are awesome too DJAD and some other members will know more.

There are also these wicked decks now that can play CDs, MP3s from computer, have USB interface etc. Problem is they can't play vinyl...

the best thing you could do to learn how to mix is make friends with a DJ, i got some decks about a decade ago and nobody else I knew had any, I was totally in the dark and it took me ages just to grasp the basic concept of how to use the decks and what i actually needed to be doing. Had someone shown me the ropes I'd have had a much better start.

Although plenty of people have suggested using software, I find it the most unsatisfactory way of mixing, if you want to enjoy learning how to DJ, it has to be on vinyl / using serato or CDJ's, but all of those don't come cheap.

check this : YouTube - serato scratch live tutorial 1

mixing is not easy but once you have mastered it it's like riding a bike, as above find someone with some decks and have a go, many people wanna be dj's and fork out for the kit only for it to gather dust as they get frustrated easily. You just have to stick at it and be determined....good luck

cdjs are pretty good, goto a proper store and check them out cos they're not a small investment for decent ones and the cheaper ones are shit.

Last time i looked into it, these were the ones to get
    http://www.decks.co.uk/products/cdpl...ioneer/cdj1000

but at £1400, i think id go for a set of s/h technics 1210s, serato and a half decent mixer.

Personally I'd love to get back into it but my decks are shafted (were rubbish in the first place) so the price of it all is a bit much to swallow.

You cant beat using proper decks (1210's I would recommend) and Serato is very good too. Depends on what genres your mixing in terms of difficulty - At first any genre will be hard but with like anything practice practice practice. House music is probably the easiest. R&b / HipHop etc... harder as the beats are slower.

Let me know if you need any help.

cdjs all the way. no point in having to spend a fortune on vinyls when you can like a song, download it, burn it and have it in a mix in 10 mins.
pioneer if you have the cash.

are you saying 500 for decks and mixer?
