    Attention Datel Wii Freeloader

    http://uk.codejunkies.com/Products/W..._EF000595.aspx

Wii freeloader has been released. Will it make the homebrewed games that doesn't work on any other region than it's own, to work?

There are a few games non available to Europeans (and not working through homebrewing) that i'd like to try, foremost One Piece:UA and No More Heroes (with blood, although I quite like the "black splatter" effect the european/japanese version uses).

same way they did it with the GC I guess, thats what made the Wii so easy to hack. There is an "password" within the DVD drive FW, and if you know it you can get the drive to boot anything you like (as long as the code is signed)! When they hacked the GC they knew the password (was all lower case on the Cube), but with the Wii all Ninty did was change the password from lower case to upper case! Thats it! They didn't even bother changing any of the characters! Hence why the Wii was hacked to play backups so quickly, but it has taken longer to get homebrew to run!

This isn't really a big deal unless you dont have your Wii chipped and want to play foreign games on it.

I think people are under the impression that this will play those import games that refuse to work on region free chips or after patching with region frii. remains to be seen if it can or not. I'm quite hopeful that this is working around the signing hacks that were found recently, Datel always seem to release a new product just as some hackers make a breakthrough.

Sadly theres a good chance Nintendo could block this disk from working in an update.

the good thing about it would be a backup of the disk could have its disk ID changed, so Nintendo could block the official disks ID, but not an edited copy

OK, n00b question - I'm guessing this will not enable the playing of back up games?
