Virgin Media 20mb Cable

I am intrested in getting virgin media's 20mb cable broadband but i am just wondering if anyone else knows what the actual speed you get is as virgin just keep saying upto 20mb.

10mb to 14mb mostly and if you download a lot they cut it to 5mb.

I'm on the 20Mb service - at the moment it's 8Mb! Sometimes below during peak.

yeah all depends on your area really mine terribly slow at times with pages loading and website downloads.

I always seem to get full speed off the newsgroups though which is strange.

Is there a way to tell which areas are good for connection speed?

I am just abou to go back to it as BB is crap where i am, i had it a year ago and it never dropped below 20MB and Chesser another member off here from my work has had the same experience.

I would recomend it but i have never had a problem with it...

always get the full 20 meg except it i go over 4gig (i think thats how much) between 4 pm and 9 pm. Then it drops to 5 meg for the next 5 hours. I dont download between them times now

I get 20mb no problem. But I'd hold off for while for when the bring out 50mb. No doubt new customers will get a good deal and us current customers will be butt fucked.

They do cap as mentioned above though. But just don't download over 4 gig between those times.

20 meg most of the time, cable has far more reliable speeds than ADSL

Its being tested in London area i think... but dont think it will be out for a while.. get 20mb .. i would very good!

i am going to get the 20mb internet now i am wondering about what wireless router to get as i have read that some dont provide the full connection speed. Does anyone have any suggestion about which router to choose?

depends how far away you are going to be and where abouts it is in your house. etc because walls can interfere etc

The router will be in the upstairs in the center of the house and will need to cover the whole house. The only reason for asking is some router say they can manage 20mb but realilisticly they will not be able to. If anyone could suggest some models that are best it would be great.
