Presonally, I have never touched ISA's. The tax free amount is minimal really, and the returns are not that great.
I suppose it all depends on what kind of return you are looking for, and if it is just to store money for savings then it is a wise move.

ISA's dont seem to give you a high return. Why cant banks give money away lol

I would say in the long term they'd give a decent return.

Depends on what you are comparing them with.

Against risk, they are rock solid. Against return, there are many other ways to invest, with potential to earn a lot more - but you have to be prepared to lose some money.

They do in the long term. A friend of mine has saved 35k on his ISA which was started a while back by his parents.

The interest he earns on it annualy bumps it up considerably.

Think the whole point of ISA's is that they give you a decent return with low risk. THere are a low risk investment which you should have if you have a portfolio of investments.
Bit like a triangle, bottom tier, lots of low risk investments - ISA's, middle tier has some medium risk investments - Bonds, upper tier has a few higher risk investments - Stocks and shares.

Im thinking of investing some money for savings.. but im not sure what to do?? any ideas? reading about isa's has made me sway that wa as there is no risk. Even after saying they were poo earlier

depending on the bonds they're no more risk than an isa - in some cases less thats why the return on bonds is often less than mini cash isas.

Yes but bonds are not tax free like the isa
