    Default Laptop

    Not sure if in rite section, but i want to buy a lappy,this one;

    http://www.staples.co.uk/ENG/Catalog...affixedcode=WW

    My only questions are how do lappys work??? A few people i work with which i fucking hate reckon they just hack into a wi-fi network,hence not paying for a broadband subscription. Does this lappy have all the bits and pieces to hack a wi-fi signal without paying or do i need a higher spec i.e WI-fi card,wi-fi intergrated.

    Im looking to take my lappy to anywhere and use it without paying in a nut-shell

    Hopefully someone will make sence of this and explain in SIMPLE terms

    Hi mate in answer to ur question , wireless networks r only accessable if 1) they are not passworded up ie: no password inside the router set up , 2) u r given the password to access the network , or 3) if a person has hacked a network , the 3rd being the harder and time consuming to achieve , theres a few types of encryption u can use to password ur router , wep , wpa and wpa 2 , and bye the way that laptop has built in wireless and the spec is ok for the money ,

    im no hacker but i can tell you that it will be quite hard to hack a wifi setup if it was set up properly. when i have set friends up befor i have used password with encryption and mac address filtering. so basicly you would need to be a very skilled hacker to do it. but then there are so many dumb a$$es out there that dont lock it up so you mite find some open.

    you could comprimise a network key, but itll take you a while.... by the sounds of your posts.

    you can use other peoples unsecured wireless networks, however thats unreliable, reliant on proximity and illegal.

    tbh mate - the way you're going about stuff and with your knowledge (and no internet connection to guide you) you're not going to be hacking anything.
