    Default pc wont start

    hey cap and chapettes!
yet again i need some help!
have just aquired an ecs l7vta motherboard, http://www.tbreak.com/reviews/article.php?id=146, and after installing it and attaching what needs attaching it wont work!
when i plug mains in and press the start button the fan click and spins for a second then stops, i did notice that there is a little red light on the board on the top right just by the slots for the ram, now when i first plug in the red light doesnt light but when i switch on, it shows up instantly as the fan tries to spin, the light then stays on until i disconnect mains. when i reinsert the mains the light doesnt come on until i press the start button, is the light trying to tell me something!?

    any ides peeps?

Might be an error code or something, I am not too bright on the old processor side of things but maybe go to the manufacturers site and look for troubleshooting or a FAQ?

takes ddr 1 333 (in all 3 slots) max 3gb

or ddr 1 400 (in 2 slots only) max 2 gb

hope you got the right mem sticks m8....

other thing i can think of for now is have you got the cpu fan plugged in to fan 1 on the board..

POST codes are usually good for diagnosis. Ensure the RAM is seated properly and try it in different slots while you are at it. Make sure the CPU fan is connected to the right header as that will cause a board to get uppity.

try a diff power supply. i had a similar problem and it was the usb ports! one of the pins were bent and causing it to cut off.
check board for any damage as well

    thanks all!
cant see any obvious problems with the board!
have found out the red light just means the board is powered and not to insert or remove memory when red light is on!
bert...No post codes to report, it just does nothing expect very briefly the fan spins nothing else!
going to take it out and put it back in see if that works....well ya never know!!! lol

i had a similar problem with a board.

Turned out to be power connector from the power supply.
Board wanted a 26 Pin so all 26 from the power supply.

Turned on and cuts out like yours.

So removed the 4 pins from the end of the connector and only used the 24pins and it since worked fine

have tried the insulation tape, even though i couldnt see any contact, but thought it was worth a try!
the power supply only has 20 pins on it not 26 so dont really want to be getting rid of 4 of them!! lol
    oh!!!

try it without any ide cables in (hard drives, roms etc)

dose your board have the port?

if so looks like you will need a new power supply mate
