thinking of buying a 360

ok right now i have a Wii and a PS2. i was wondering if anyone thought it would be worthwhile buying a 360? also, where do they come cheap? are they easy to chip etc?

i know that woolworths are doing them pretty cheap but anyone wanna enlighten me as to details?

As for buying one id try gamestation for preowned one (might even be flashed), you get 1 year guarantee with it also
just make sure you get a hardrive with it if you plan to play more than 3 games.

The console got loads of good games, although the selection is rather genre limited. Lacks in great single player games, having but very few which none tops the Wiis exclusives.

Right, iv got all 3 (Wii, 360 & PS3)...let me just give a list of good & bad things for the 360 compared to the PS3 (its only real rival, the Wii doesnt count as a rival)

Good

• Cheaper to buy than PS3
• Can be hacked to play backups
• Currently has a larger selection of games than PS3
• Exclusives such as Gears of War and Halo (if you like Halo that is)

Bad

• Unrealiable! Just look at how many people are reporting problems in this section of the forum compared to the Sony section
• Most games are available on PC (some also on PS3) and also look better on PC with the right hardware
• has an external power brick (and it IS a brick!)
• Very noisy when playing games cos the DVD drive spins so quick

I belive at mo there is not a better console out there. 360 is the best for games, multiplayer and of course the drive flashing helps alot
Look at the crap that is on wii( i have one to), other than nintendo games the rest is all training and shite.
The ps3 will be a good console if sony ever get their fingers out of their arse and get some good games on the shelfs and not keep putting them back.
Gamestation will do you a brand new 360 with hdd and wireless pad, 3 games, one of which is forza 2 which is a very good game for about 260. Or wait and see what offers they do with gta 4

I think a good way to clear this up is to pop in the Sony section and have a look at the number of "non bot" posts and interest in the PS3 and compair it to this section and the interest in the xbox360.
Personally I would buy a PS3 if it gave me reason to want one but as yet it hasen't, for me the Live community with xbox360 is the best bit and on a normal night you will find around 10 members playing COD4 together and chatting (link for ps3 users) you just won't find that with ps3 users here.

To answer your question m8, yes they are definately worth buying, not sure where they come cheap and they are very easy (most of the time ) to flash. If you have never owned one then definately worth a buy and as said the online community on xbl is mint.

i also have all 3 consoles and the 360 is the only one i use for games, i don't even own a game for the ps3 and its only used for blu ray films.

i'll try the odd wii game i download but usually turn it off and just go on the 360

360 wins for me by a mile, the only things that let it down are the reliability issues and the noisey drive.

definatley worth getting one as they are relatively cheap now.

I've sussed out theres some mobile phone providers are giving 360 elites away free for taking out a new contract. My contract was up in Feb so i reckon thats how i'll get mine - now i just need to find a phone i like.....

for the cash you mite as well, although if you plan to play metal gear, final fantasy or gran turismo in the near future, you would probably be better off with a PS3.

There's no doubt the 360 has the most decent games of this generation (at least at the mo) but that doesn't necessarily mean they will appeal to you, if you like FPS type games then you cant go wrong, if you don't, then the decision isn't so clear cut.

Xbox's are cool. Games for next to nothing are cool (even though you'll only play the best five). Xbox's fucking up all the time...not so cool. Reconsider mate.

And too tired to search for the dumb ass comment...but how TF are PS2's equivalent to PS'3? Go bury your head. Game content wise, maybe....but you have to wait for 4 years before you can spout shit like that with some kinda authority.

Not a fanboy by any means...just a realist. For all the games I actually played out of the 80 I owned for the 360, I could buy without a dent in my pocket.

My problem is I see the PS3 in a similar way I do an unbuilt Spanish Villa, been hearing since it's release what it's going to be/do but I want the best thing now and for me that's the xbox360 for sure, don't give a toss about blue ray as it may have won but until blue ray is the normal format when I get a film I won't bother and when that time comes you will probably be able to pick up a player for about £50.

For the price you cant beat the 360, yes they fu(k up alot, but you do get M$ back up.
The ability to flash & play online has got to be a winning formula.
I'm about to buy my third, that shows what I think.

After hating on the xbox, I have just bought one (premium) from a friend, flashed, not banned, receipt from Game, 60 odd 'backup' games (three originals), 2 controllers, the xtreme fan thing and recharge packs and charger for both controllers...all boxed and whatnot for £180.

Was due to go and buy a PS3 tomorrow. Was gonna spend £350 tops. That would get me a PS3, hdmi cable and two games at the most, give or take £20. If I had a PS3 I would buy approx 3 games a month.

The question I need answered is, should I sell the whack and make a profit and stick it towards a ps3, or just stick with what I have?

keep it for a while mate, try it out, get yourself on live as a gold account and i think you wont bother with ps3. Live IS the console gamers choice for online gaming.
