    Default Printer won't print

Got an HP PSC 2510 all-in-one printer that has always been a nightmare on the wireless. It has issues with dhcp (or lack therof) and configuring it through a wire to work on wireless confuses it. Finally got that problem solved (details here).

Anyway now it's on the wireless I can access it through it's static IP (192.168.0.50) to fiddle with a few settings and see how much ink it has left. I can use the scanner element so it is capable of communicating. However if I try to print nothing happens for ages. Eventually the error message mentioned on this site about the print spooler being unable to connect to my printer pops up. I followed the instructions on there until I got to this line:
'If the IP address matches the one showed in the network configuration page, the cause of error is not covered by this document.'
My IP address does match my printers and so I am f**ked for help from HP. I hate it when you reach the end of useless troubleshooting guides and they just say 'the answer is not here' or, a classic, 'contact your administrator' when they know full f**king well you probably are the administrator. I am seriously p**sed off by this. Any help gladly appreciated!

right can't get access to any of the two links you provided.

Why you using a DHCP for a printer?

Should login to your router and Tell the DHCP to always assign this addresses to this device.
try adding a printer by TCP/IP
add the ip that your router his given it

Sorry, as I said I've solved the DHCP issue. It is now set to a static ip address of 192.168.0.50 and I can log into the web interface at this address. It can't find the printer if I attempt to install one, even by typing in it's ip address. Using the HP software, it installs and claims to have found it, though it doesn't show any signs of communicating with it. When I try to print through this 'installed' printer it brings up the error on this page (sorry about the bad link before). As I said above, that document doesn't give a solution because my ip address is what windows thinks it is. I know that the static ip address seems to be functioning capably because I can scan documents wirelessly.

Thanks for your help mate. I've forwarded that port to that ip address but I'm pretty sure port forwarding is only for WAN data so when it hits the router it knows where to send it. Getting really annoyed.

I have a feeling that might well be the way to go. I had a similar problem when I was sorting out a network for someone the other day. Even if I browsed all connected devices to the network to add the printer as a default printer it wasn't visible, however I could access it via IP as you can.

I manually added it using it's IP I think and it worked.
