Best way to share images amongst 6 comps

Hi guys, could anyone suggest the best way to do this.

I originally suggested uploaded the images to a Flickr Pro account and setting to private, but the boss says they want to keep the images on their own server for security reasons.

They purchased Portfolio by Extensis but the IT department say it wont work on the server for some reason.

Ideally they need to be able to access the images (which at the moment are stashed in one folder on my desktop) via a keyword search in the same way as you do with Flickr or any other online image search.

Can anyone offer any alternative suggestions

To these need to be presented externally, or is it just for your office LAN?

Theyre just to be shared between the 6 office computers, which are all connected to the main site server were other departments are also connected.

Is there anyway of doing this without routing through the main server to keep it internal?

I forgot to mention that the 6 computers comprise of 3 macs and 3PC's.

Can't you just put them on the server and share that folder, map a drive and then install desktop search on the machines or something similar?

Exactly what I was going to recommend.
If you go down the Google Desktop search route make sure it's only set to pick up the shared folder for privacy purposes.

Thanks guys .. i'll put the Google desktop idea forward. i'm guessing that all you have to do is add the directory (on our server) where the images are stored to Google desktop. Then install google desktop to each computer. Is that right?
