    Default Network problem HELP :(

    Hi

I have a laptop connected to a domain running XP pro SP2.
when starting up I have network activity, but as soon as windows starts applying security policy the network card stops working. I can log into the laptop locally but not to the domain, when looking in device manager the network card is not listed and it does not recognise it as un-installed hardware.
I noticed that when shutting down the machine the network activity lights spring into life again so found a small workaround, if I throw it into standby from the login screen and then wake it up again the network card works fine. this is only a workaround tho I dont have time to keep putting it into standby everytime I want to use it.

does anyone know what causes this to happen? or have a more permanent solution to my problem?

well it seems the group policy as you say stops the card from working? maybe disables.. it.. can you not log on locally and then try connecting to a share.. through your username and password? i do this sometimes at work
