Info Slight Money Saving Tip - Paypal and Amex

    Hi Guys,

Hopefully some of you will find this usefull.

I just bought something for £292 and paid for it via Paypal. I use an american express card to pay for things on paypal, and just checked my statement. When you pay for things via paypal and american express, paypal apply a conversion rate, and the refund you the difference afterwards.

So in my case of £292, my statement shows that amex actually paid £305.55 first, and then received a refund of £18.50. This works out to be £287.05 - so i saved myself £5!

£5 isnt a massive amount - but every little helps.

Also, the american express card (British Airways American express Card) i use gives me air miles, so i put everything on it and would recomend it for anyone who spends about £15K a year on it, and pays the balance off in FULL every month. It anyone is interested, let me know and i will refer you, so we both get exra bonus miles (enough for a free flight to france/germany)

surely there's a chance that the conversion may work the other way occasionally and you pay more?

i think with the current strength of the pound, or i should say weakness of the dollar, its pretty safe at the mo. when it falls back to £1 = $1.5, then i may end up paying more, but for now, and the near to mid future, its all good.

For anyone interested in reward credit cards (people who spend a lot, and pay there balance off in FULL every month, found this link on Money saving expert
