Vehicle camera positioning on GTA IV is frustratingly shit.

Is it just me who's pissed off with this or are other people finding driving vehicles frustrating?

I want the vehicle camera to stay auto-positioned at the back of the vehicle (like the GTA 3 series) but it keeps moving into awkward positions by itself and I have to keep tweaking it with the right joystick.

For example when I go to turn left, the camera points itself at the left side of the vehicle. It should stay pointing at the back of the vehicle so my line of sight can follow on into the next road. Instead I have to rotate the camera right so its facing the back of the vehicle again.

Another thing which seems like a bug with the vehicle cam is that it will suddenly point completely upwards right up close to the back of the vehicle i'm driving.

It's really bugging me and was just wondering if anyone is experiencing similar or can tell me of a setting that can be changed or something!

I did at first but then I got over it, it's a bit like the manual to auto aim when using weapons.

Just press select a few time and push the right analog a little bit when cruising.

Its not a bug - you do it with the left stick lol.

Ok so I havent played the game, but if you control the camera with the left and right stick, how do you steer?

I have to agree... I hate the control of cars lol and camera angle really doesnt help. I personally dont want the gameplay to be mega realistic. Thats why its a game damnit >_<

I just play with the 'almost' in car view, anything else feels like you're trying to pilot jelly through a maze!

lol... that's GTA's style (and it depends what vehicle you're in to a degree)... but I use the same view myself as it seems more stable ;)

Sorry let me be a bit clearer.... with the right stick you control the all round view - left/right/up/down

With the left stick you control the height of the camera, i.e up the cars arse to a sky view.

Which is why when amo says its getting annoyingly close, he crashing/breaking etc - he is most prob pressing up on the left stick and zooming in.

The cars handle a bit like FPS in that sense.

Its very easy and very useful once you get the hang of it however.

I have got used to the driving now but does anyone else find it really difficult to consentrate on driving and aiming while shooting at the same time? I keep getting mixed up and crashing.

I like the driving and camera's on that bad, only annoying when you have to do a u turn.
Just get used to using the other stick as well cos that is needed to shoot anyways.

Sliding round all the corners is ace you just have to pump the break a bit.

yeah the car handling is lame, but i guess i'll just have to get used to it.
i always prefer bumper cam for driving games, but i guess you wouldn't be able to see anything after you've mowed down a dozen pedestrians!
