Default Pay as you go insurance scam?

Seeing as this section is now in the VIP area I can query and idea I have had.

I know GPS blockers have been about for a while but I have always wondered what kind of use they can have. Now I know about pay as you go motor insurance where the insurance company fits a GPS device to your car so can tell how much you use it and when you use it.

If I were to turn on a GPS blocker at night times when I shouldn't be driving to work then would I not be traced?

That assumes that the GPS device is only enabled when you start the car i.e. you aren't logged even when parked at your house overnight and that they solely use the GPS data rather than miles on the clock. Although your clock could be done if it is analogue to read the correct milage.

Anyone know about this PAYG insurance and GPS blockers?

it would only start at night then u would get greedy and then u would be out during the day with it of. and god forbid if u had an accident. the insurance company's will look for an excuse not to pay. and that applys to all respect to em.

Ahh fair enough, if it were only a few quid then it wouldn't matter but I am paying between £1400 and £1500 to insure a ford fiesta 1.3 standard with no upgrades. I know it is because I have only been driving a year but I have never had an accident and the car is worth about £1000. Sucks to be young

Easier ways of getting cheaper insurance than by blocking sodding GPS signals lol.

Is that under your own name and fully comp? My excess is something stupid like £500, I think 10k miles a year, parked on my drive which is in a low risk area etc.

£650 for a focus is actually insane for our age

EDIT: Oh and I forgot to mention my mum is an insurance broker at one of those third party companies.

it does sound stupidly high unless you are living in moss side or similar ! we have all been thru it tho it drops drastically after 26. I'm paying under £200 on a saab turbo at age 35

I have been thru 1.3s and the like to make running a car affordable its the way it is

I am in the most sleepy village you can imagine a long way from anywhere out in the countryside. I have been told that risks are graded and we are near if not the lowest risk grade here

Takes the piss a bit seeing as I got a sensible car whereas some of my mates get 2 litre beasts and smash em up.
