    Default bandit 600 high revving

I've just picked up a lovely R reg 9k mileage never used in the rain bandit, that only does 11.5mph per 1000 revs. Its great but at 70mph, its doing 6krevs and feels like driving a car and not being able to go into 4th and 5th gear. Someone suggested changing chain/sproggits, does anyone have any pitfall warnings before I go down that route??
    Many thanks

you will loose some acceleration - thats about it.

the original bandit engine is based on the gsxr750 oilcooled lump and loves to rev, if you drop the revs too far, you wont be able to accelerate out of trouble very quickly at motorway speeds in top gear.
bike engines like to cruise in the midrange, many of my students struggle to get their head round this fact initially and they dont get the best from themselves or their bike untill they stop slinging the bike in top gear as soon as the crack 30mph!

I've not ridden a bandit, but my R6 cruises motorway speeds at 8k revs... just get some ear plugs and ignore it.. or a v-twin

if you went down a couple of teeth on the back sprocket or up at the front it should do the same speed at lower revs, but it'll take you longer to get there.
