    Wii D2Pro 9 Wire v1.1b - Tried and tested

modded a US wii today with a D2Pro 9 Wire with latest beta firmware v1.1b

came with v1 firmware so i used D2prog to flash with the latest 1.1b - dead easy to flash, wasn't recognized on my vista 64bit so had to use my laptop which was XP.

worked a treat first time, auto region patched so no jumpers to solder

also used the util disk which is pretty impressive:

very impressed! as it is a US wii and im in UK, need to start using brickblocker on the games!

and just for the record, i connected the wii to the net here in UK and it downloaded the latest firmware from the US servers

no pics of install as i forgot to take some, used 2 kynar wires twisted together for the GND and V points, rest of the points i used kynar.

    10/10

Haha, I had just posted a message about this in the 'Which chip' thread this morning, apparently this is the new best chip.

So you would say this is better than the Wasabi mate? It should be DVD updatable now you have flashed the latest FW. I have a D2B cut pins although this doesn't use the cut pins IIRC. Looks like I will get this one although I am sketchy about soldering to the IC legs because they are so close together I reckon I will solder bridge them.

Out of interest do you add any solder or just use what is already on the board? And what temp/wattage is your soldering iron set to?

I heard with this chip there are no red light errors so using twisted kynar is safe but not neccessary (I think ).

hi mate, yeh i would say that the d2pro is better then the wasabi, purely cos it has better support.

it will work on the d2b with cut legs but the firmware is beta, (but still reported to work)

i got the programmer so if you want me to flash it for you give me a shout

i tin the wires and solder without extra solder to the ic legs

for the other points i tin the wire and tin the points aswell, flux pen is a must aswell
