Yes but think of the reward when you retire! You'll look back and regret pissing it up the wall otherwise.

Totally agree - Its simply the most prudent financial decision any person can make

If you die then your pension goes to your depedants. So you're not only preparing for your own future, but your partners / kids too

Same as that. My the company matches my contributions + 1%.

The 1% changes tho sometimes, it's part of a package deal.

I only started paying into a pension last year at the age of 32. Currently at 4% which is employer matched, I plan to increase this as soon as I get my next pay review.
Reason for the late start is when I started work I had to wait 12 months before I could pay into the company pension, and during that 12 months I had a cancer scare so at the time I thought 'Why bother, I may as well enjoy myself now'.
Anyway, scare over and I never got round to starting it up.
Started a new job 18 months ago, and was subject to the 12 month wait again. Started it up as soon as I was eligable.
I just wish I had started a pension when I first had the chance. That's 10 years of missed payments which would have made a big difference when I retire.

I would say to anyone that if they are able to join an employer scheme, do it. It's free money from your employer, you'd be daft not to take it.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, the funky gibbon.
