I just started paying into mine last month and already feeling like and old git for doing so...
I am 25 and went for the max amount. Didn't realise that would be almost £200 a month i'm gutted.

Yes but think of the reward when you retire! You'll look back and regret pissing it up the wall otherwise.
We all make mistakes sometimes

I only started paying into a pension last year at the age of 32. Currently at 4% which is employer matched, I plan to increase this as soon as I get my next pay review.
Reason for the late start is when I started work I had to wait 12 months before I could pay into the company pension, and during that 12 months I had a cancer scare so at the time I thought 'Why bother, I may as well enjoy myself now'.
Anyway, scare over and I never got round to starting it up.
Started a new job 18 months ago, and was subject to the 12 month wait again. Started it up as soon as I was eligable.
I just wish I had started a pension when I first had the chance. That's 10 years of missed payments which would have made a big difference when I retire.
I would say to anyone that if they are able to join an employer scheme, do it. It's free money from your employer, you'd be daft not to take it.
i just dont think they are worth it to be honest.
and i dont trust them whatsoever,
thats a bit of a stupid comment actually cos i dont no much about them.
but you here about things going tits up all the time.
i think if i live to 60 i will just murder a copper and spend the rest of my days living it up in HMP .
