Faulty 360 xbox (console only) £35 inc next day p&p

just leave it looping some demo, or better still play on it. If theres something amiss it'll show itself sooner or later

i may have found the problem.

played a original game, pressed the big X button and went to dashboard

pressed eject and hear a kind of screeching noise, it was the 360 drive trying to stop the disk spinning

it came out stopped though, then i wacked in a dvd-r film, did a few ejects and a couple of times the disk came about slightly spinning, nowt much though, just 90 degree of a revolution

possible fix?

There could be fluff and crap on the rubber grip part of the spindle the bit the disc sits on. My sons 360 did the same and it had problems getting some games to work because the disc would not spin fast enough and it made a loud noise.

there is a plastic cover that unclips and three black screws are exposed, the power swtch then slides off and the board will pop out (when all screws are out)

one of mine has 3rl (and was fixed in 10 mins with xecuter rrod kit and a burn in) and the other is bad laser

more testing to do and will report back

Thanx maltloaf this is my very first time i'm doing this so hope i get done correctly
didn't realise is just slipped out just look like it was connected to the motherboard and soldered from both sides, didn't think to check and pull it out lol.....

Just to let ya guys know i just done my very first xbox 360 fix and it's fully working now......

been playing chrome hounds all afternoon...

Also wondering is there anyway to find out if the xbox is banned?

Just gone for it, always wanted one of these. Never had one, which means I'm going to need a power supply and a cable for me telly.

I have a older tv so no hdmi just scart how much should I be looking to pay for a power lead and a tv cable ?

Mine's arrived today, and it's a 2006 model, which of course is sans HDMI port. It's a bit grubby and has some scuff marks... not arsed though! The cover over the USB ports is gone too... not fussed about that either!

It has a Hitachi drive, so fingers crossed it's not been bricked already! I have my power brick here at work with me (arrived at the same time, from a different eBay seller though) and the unit at least powers up (full red ring due to no A/V).

There seems to be something rattling around inside, probably a snapped bit of plastic or summat, but I'll get that out before I turn it on again just in case it's metal and something shorts.

Got my X-Clamp replacement bolts and washers today as well, so that's the first fix I'll try, should the problem be an overheating issue. If that doesn't work I'll get the Team Xecuter heat pads. I'll let you all know how I get on tonight.

First edit: OK, just got home and tested it, and the unit goes straight into a 3RL state. Was expecting it to at least work for a few minutes before over-heating, so I imagine the heatsinks are barely making any contact at all with the GPU and maybe CPU as well!

Second edit: Removed the X-Clamp and the console is now working, it's already been firmware modded too! Still, I'll be upgrading that to the latest iExtreme tomorrow and giving it a good few hours of burn-in testing on Ninja Gaiden 2 or perhaps something a bit more graphic intensive. It's cost me £72 for a complete 360 setup, my old man will be well pleased... he's taking this one to Spain when he emigrates in 2 weeks time

picked up a av lead on ebay for a rund 6-7 quid the power sipply range between £10 - £30 depends how lucky you get

had the same problem before it was the magnet inside the drive that had come off thats why the disk spins on the way out.

got one of these it was in mint condition three red lights so got the fix kit from neo and it worked ok for about a week and now has started freezing again so looks like a lost cause

oh well i gave it a shot i try flog it back on ebay as i am no good with soldering

ive done a few now, i always do the neo fix and change the thermal compond on the cpu and gpu while im at it. all been fine so far

Just a quick q, does the Xecuter RRoD fix replace the need for the X clamp fix? Or is it wise to try the Xecuter fix first and if it still RRoD's then try the X clamps too?

Seen these are £40 delivered now but I do love a good gamble
