    Default My challenge....

Itching to get out after work, I set myself a challenge of picking a random route to drive (one I've not driven before) and heading off, camera next to me, to shoot whatever I found along the way. It was just a bit of fun to add a little dimension to the shoot, rather than drifting to the same old spots along the coast.

After no inspiration for half of the journey, I dived into a field to at least get one shot of some countryside...

    Spoiler:

Then, nearing the end of the route, and about to head on the the motorway home, I spotted a narrow country road and decided to investigate. That's when I found these delightful fella's, who were very accomodating posers (althought there was a fence between them and me, I'm not crazy)...

    Spoiler:

Great pics, as always from some ppl on DF, but you guys need to research where the pics would be better off.

Some are hitting the main road, but others, you mr neo and peter, need to spend a little more time.

The pics are obviously worth something, given the time and effort....but you have to source!!

number 1 is amazing. How did you get the vignetting effect on the last two pics ??

they almost look like the product of a fisheye lens only not as defined

Grint, I hear you, but this is purely a dedicated hobby at the moment. My dayjob earns me more than enough dosh to not warrent the effort it would take to sell a few pics on the net. If I were to persue a career in photography, it would be by opening a studio to do it properly I reckon.

The cows were shot in a field just before the Cheese Factory at Horton Grange (just past Seaton Burn A19 roundabout)... The field shot was somewhere near Dinnington, not sure, at that point I was fairly lost :S

Thanks mate.... Vignetting was simply done in Lightroom with the Vignetting option
All the cow shots were tweaked slightly in Lightroom, vignetting added, and exported. The field shot was worked on a fair bit in CS3.

Very interesting you should mention that... I met Kevin Carter in 1992, a year before he took that pic, and 2 years before he topped himself. He came to our school to talk at some function or other and as part of the photography club, I got to chat to him 1 on 1 for a wee while. Fascinating chap, and full of stories but even then, he had a haunted look about him.

First one is awesome, the colours are just amazing!

I love the penultimate one too, the animal thing (can't remember its name) is perfect, and the rest of the background in it really grounds the whole thing in reality.

I can't believe how close that is to where I am!
I work about 5 miles from there, down in Longbenton in Balliol Business Park.
I love the area because despite being only 5 miles from Newcastle, it's also only 5 miles away from the gorgeousness that you've captured so well in those pictures.
