Need to find weather for specific day last year
Hi all,
I need to find out the weather for 28 October 2007. Don't want to go into details but one party is saying it was dry when in pretty sure it was wet and raining.
It was in the west midlands near Wolverhampton on 28 oct 07
Met office want £30 for us to find out

I take it your insurers won't pay for your roof doing without this info?

lol thanks lads.
Its to do with a road traffic accident that some woman has milked to the point where my dad is more than likely going to lose his license.
On her statement she has said it was dry day, but we all remember it was raining. I had a football match and it was one of the wettest games we've played all season (and first we lost) so remember it well.

I control the Winter Maintenance for Worcestershire, which ain't that far away mate.
On the 27th the met office forecast this, valid until noon on the 28th.
"Cloudy and mild today and tonight with occasional drizzle. A band of more persistent rain will spread southwards tomorrow morning."
The forecast for the 28th, valid until noon on the 29th was
"Rain will clear away to the south of the counties early this afternoon, allowing much brighter weather to spread from the north. Fine and dry this evening, before turning cloudier and showery during the early hours (especially the south of the counties). Becoming dry and fine tomorrow morning."
In short mate, it was piss wet and I would suspect that it wass the same up your way.
I'd suggest you ring your County Council and ask to speak to the Winter Maintenance Manager.
He'll be able to access the specific forecast for your area for that day and tell you definitively.

Thanks alot mate, since posting my dad has got in touch with the met office again, the bloke was really helpful this time. After explaining the situation he said they had 1mm of rain on that road that day and it definitely was not dry like the other party is saying.
For it to stand up in court we have to pay for a more detailed forecast which he is emailing the invoice and other details through next week.
Is it worth contacting the county council and see if they can get it for free?

they will have access to the domain specific info from the met office and should provide it to you for free

If it helps, when before i go on me hols and i'm getting all excited I go to www.wunderground.com
its a site called weather underground, and you can look at what happened on any day for years, on all nearby cities... for free!

Surely this should be availible free from the Local Council/ Met office under the freedom of information act? they can only charge if it takes over 30 mins to process it all. thats what my mum recons anyway she works for council and says she spends half her day doing freedom of information requests about exclusion figures for kids in school.

Just an update on this,
got in touch with the county council where the event took place, they told us to contact the met office as they dont have access to that information!
Got in touch with the met office again, they're asking for £200+VAT for all the details to be sent to us in writing!
