yes it should... as the temps are lower it should spin slower, as it gets hotter it revs up in speed.

If it isnt moving, theres a problem

ok guys this gets weirder! right managed to get it to boot last night and did a virus scan on it, it returned a couple of trojans SHeur. anji and another one anyway put them to bed and hoped that that would be an end top the problem. now im on a roll with it staying on so i decide maybe worth a try to do a system restore, off i goes to the system restore place and i cant go anywhere as regards the date! when i click on the little arrow that changes the calender to the previous month it doesnt do anything!!!!!

also tried to get on avg to update virus list as the one on the lappy is from 2 weeks ago now, but it couldnt fing any network connections!

software or hardware? what hardware problem would stop me getting system restore to go back in time? non im guessing so i decides that best thing to do is wipe the hard drive, that way if its software then at least it will be boot and i can reinstall windows.

wiped HD and guess what, still doing the boot once every 30 times or so thing! hard drive clicks but then lappy goes off, HD not a problem as whatnow very kindly sending me one, have fan on the way because that is still not spinning, although not sure how lappy managed to stay on for 35 mins to do virus scan then 40 mins to wipe HD, if the fan was goosed?!

You can run a CPU without a fan ontop of it, but it will start to overheat without the fan removing the hot air.

The problem is made worse by the fact its in a small confined space.

You do realise that you are best waiting for the new fan to arrive before further playing with the system? The more you use it without sufficient cooling - the more heat buildup and the greater chance your gonna fry something through overheating.

have wiped the drive m8 and was going to try reinstall but even with nothing on the drive it still crashing when it trys to boot to CD or when it has booted and im trying to do stuff with hirens then it crashes!

so either the drive alone is shagged, certainly something wrong with the drive cos much of the diagnostic software didnt see it, or the fan is goosed too, im guessing because i got a warning in seatolls that the drive had been overheated, the fan went first then fried the drive?!?

stupid question is the pc inside really dusty? that could clog all the innards in your pc up and cause random errors

Hi, i know this is not going to help you at all, but this is exact the same as what my pc is doing... After trying loads of times to reinstall it finally worked, but now all it is doing is restarting every so often, with the occasional blue screen,with LESS OR EQUAL error.. I would also like to know how to fix this..
I have tried 4 sticks of memory, 2 of which were bought from crucial about 1 month ago...
I really dont want to buy a new pc but if i have to then i will....

i dont know hun, seems that computers are a pain in the arse half the time and we should all go back to pen, paper, and calculators....my texas instrument calculator never crashed on me for that matter neither did my amigaa500 or a1200......oh i miss them :emot97:

when/if i finally get this sorted then i will be sure to tell you were the problem lies well with mine anyway, if there is one thing i have come to appreciate is that if one thing is wrong with one then that same thing is not the problem with the other one even with the same errors!!!

oh what sort of memory is it? sounds like you have too much now and you might want to offload some to me?!? lol

hmmmmmm video card? never occured to me that one, i would think if it had an inherent problem though it would have not passed the tests that i managed to do on one of the occasions i got it running?

UPDATE!
ok had it to a repair place and basically hte fan is ok?!?!?!?! but anyway whatever, it needs a new MB and a new HD both are goosed apparently!!
