Photos Damselfly on an Iris leaf:

Again by the canal, these are damselfly photographs (not to be mistaken for dragonflies) that had for most of the time landed on the Iris plants on the edge of the canal water.

    Typical overhead view:

Got below and level-ish for this one:

    Then a couple of close-ups:

Couldn't seem to get the timing right for perfect focus - there was a decent bit of breeze along the canal which was often moving the plantlife.

    Paul.

Focus is good enough for me!
I can see what you mean, but still...

I love the second one, and I love in general how you take pictures, exemplified by that, from an artistic view rather than a technical one really.
The level view in the second photo gets the sort of perspective you simply don't see in 99.99999999999999% of other wildlife photos...I've never seen an insect picture like that at all, and the uniqueness captures some brilliant things, like the body sheen and colour, and it's hairs.

    Bravo!

I really like the first and second,

3rd and 4th don't have the same Wow effect on me, I think it is to do with the focus. The 3rd one is on the eye, it is a bit distracting for me and the 4th is towards his rear.

I know all of the shot can't be in focus, hence the second shot with the leaf. Just the areas out of focus distract my attention too much.

    Hope all that makes sense?
