How do I get a word document back?

I mistakenly overtyped a letter and saved it. How do I get the original letter back?

Do a search for all word docs maybe and check them one by one ?

run a restorer program and u may find the original doc is restorable. dont do anymore saving to that hard disk as you might over write the doc u want.

i think m8 he meant u needed to have it already on so u could restore it

ontrack easyrecovery does raw data recovery. it all depends on whether the new version overwrote the old one or whether the 'footprint' of the old doc is still on the hdd.

I think it's gone. It was written on 2nd June so I done a search on all documents for this date but nothing!

I might have to take a company to court so the letter I wrote is quite important. Is there any specific folder on my PC I may have missed or do you think it's gone? It's not in my temp folder.
