Help upgrading a soundcard - how?

Strange question i am sure. I am about to upgrade my soundcard in one of my PC's, how do i ensure i dont have any clashes/evidense of the previous soudncard on the system?

I am doing this on two systems. One I can do a total windows re-install and just put in the new soundcard as a fresh.

    But the second i cannot.

    The situations are
    1. Audigy 2 up to E-MU 1820
    2. E-MU 1820 - down to a ... Soundlbaster Platinum Live Pro

Option one i am abel to do a reinstall of the OS, option 2 i am not.

    Cheers.....Q

Delete the existing drivers from Add/Remove Programs, shut down, remove soundcard.

    Optional (if your worried)
Boot PC (with no soundcard in) go to www.ccleaner.com and install.
Run the reg cleaner, this will clean the registry of any dead entries etc....fix them in ccleaner then shut down.

Insert new soundcard, boot into OS, install new drivers.

Thats what I do, never failed.
