Default nectar points - anyone actually spend them?

i occasionally collect nectar points from sainsbury's and BP and have never bothered to spend/use any of them. I was having a look on the web site the other day, and the only real use i could see (without having to collect millions of points) was at Vue cinemas (1000 points for a ticket).

anyone use their points and what on? or should i just use them against my next shop at sainsburys? - how much is a point worth if i did that?

I tend to save all mine, and use them all up at Christmas to pay for a big shop...

Tesco ones are best, as you can convert them into more useful vouchers. Me and the missus get to got to the Dome (French Restaurant/Cafe) and use 40 odd quids worth on a nice meal. Think they give you 4 x value in vouchers so a 40 meal costs 10.

Club card is much better, I have always found, despite the quantity I have accrued, that Nectar is pretty rubbish. Most of the time, the hassle in claiming the points outweighs the benefit.
Was there not something on Watchdog about Nectar a while ago?

The only time I ever spend clubcard points, or any other points I may have is at Christmas. One year my Clubcard points brought 300 quids worth of booze & food for a two week period enabling me to spend money on Xmas presents.

But that was when all these loyalty points first came out.

These days you need an astronomical amount even to purchase a simple thing that costs 15 quid. Points no longer hold the "hook" that they once were.

And for some of us oldies out there, anybody remember Green Sheild Stamps ?

Yep - bought (exchanged) them for my first 'real' watch when I was about 10!

Used Nectar points in Argos last time I had enough - was quite straight forward!

My dad made me used to piece together the parts he torn of the greens shield stamps and stick it back in the book.

I have one advice to all those who think nectar points etc aint worth it......... its something that you get thats free, its something that that if you was straight up & didnt need it, you wouldnt query it. A mass of form filling out, a mass of red tape, so what ? I am a war baby, I grew up in rationing and knew what made Great Britain once great. These days, vast majority is better educated. Hope they dont go through what my Dad did, WW2, or any other kind of war.

For Christ sake, you are being offering something for free....... quit your moaning. If it takes two years to get through the red tape, today by going throuing red tape, you will be no worse off than yesterday. Tomorrow, you might be offer off.

Dont knock feebies because in todays world its gonna become worse, fuel price rise, staple food shortage. The people that will suffer are those that moan about.

Sorry if I went up on my soapbox and no offence to anyone.

Nope, the people that will suffer will be the people that can not afford them.

i.e - people on benefits, people with no intention of working, people who have masses of children and no income.

It's not going to become worse, the biggest issue right now is the scaremongering of people that keep saying there is a problem.

Geezer, I am on benefits and have been for quite some time. Ever since I went to prison for knowing kids & some junkie had me up for 48 hours in a prison cell demanding to know where where my kids are. He will batter my kids, he will torture them. Bro; I only went to prison for one week and can only guess what lifers did to that person..............

I have an issue and a mental problem created by people like you.

I get nectar points for doing online surveys, as well as via the usual routes, and usually spend them at blockbusters. Simple - just hand your card over and they deduct the points.

We use nectar points at Christmas for Food & Drink.

Talking about green shield stamps also brought back the memory of Cigarette coupons where they came in the packet and could be used for gifts!

B&H used Gratis points a while back. Found a wad of them not long ago! I remember trying to stop my friends using them as roach material so I could collect enough to get a decent gift!

you get £2.50 for every 500 points you collect. I have used them for shopping in the shop and also for CDs and presents on line.
