Media player 9 prob

Had to start from scratch with my laptop after hardrive died. Installed everything again but can't play films

Says codec failed?
Just got sound

What do I need to install to fix

still saying the same. I have downloaded v11. I stopped though as it said needed to verify windows. Not sure but its not an original
