that looks amazing..whereabouts in Our Gods Own County was it taken?
Nice. L:iking the colouration in the sky and the pylon gives a good sense of scale. Looks a beauty. May be worth trying some contrast masking on this. Nice easy techniques as follows -
Assuming you are using photoshop what to do is
* create a duplicate layer and then desaturate this copied layer.
* Invert this desaturated layer to give a black & white negative of the background image.
* Change layer mode to Overlay.
* Apply a Gaussian Blur Filter to this layer. The level applied will depend on the size of the image. I used about 80 for this image but you will need to experiment.
* The opacity of the layer should be altered to get the desired lighting effect.
Once done you can apply any curves, levels, other adjustments as you see fit to get the image to where you saw it. In my case I used a masked multiply layer and hue saturation layer.
I really like that, looks pretty dramatic!
The black of the hillside makes the colours of the sky stand out even more, really like all those purples and blues.
Thanks Bert. I tried the contrast masking, didn't look quite right with the desaturated duplicate layer. So I tried it without desaturating the duplicate layer and then overlaying at 50%. This is the result:

I love the way it adds dark shading above the hill side and adds to the drama.
Oooo yeah. I love that method. Nice one!!
Just resized it to 1600px and added a little more black at the bottom to make it 1600x1200 and added it as wallapaper. Looks a treat.......
A lovely picture CzarJunkie.
Fantastic colours, I can imagine us lying on our backs staring up into those skies big boy.

That's really cool, i like the touches of colour as if the sky's on fire!
The edit is way better. Well done.

Here's the untouched photo just in case anyone is interested.

looks great, loving the virgin buffalo mixed with the colours of the sky and the contrasting blackness of the ground.
I'm new to this
yeah as 909 said ^^^, but as from that, superb, i think i prefer the first one though,

I actually like the original shot
I do agree with the advice on the crop though.
Dramatic!
