    Thursday 10th July 2008

0630hrs - usual smoothie - incl. strawberries, blueberries, banana, pomegranate juice, apple, raspberries, green kamut powder, Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil Blend (containing omega 3,6 and 9 oils), grapefruitseed oil, porridge, soya milk and whey protein powder).

1030hrs Shake -blended up 1 x large banana, 150gms porridge, 40gms whey protein, soya milk & water

1430hrs M&S California roll sushi selection

1730hrs Shake - 100gms porridge, 50gms Extreme carbs, 40gms whey protein, splash of soya milk & water

Dinner - 2 x haddock fish cakes with mixed veg (carrots, peas, sweetcorn and broccoli).

Training: Very little as my missus is going away for a few days so I wanted to spend the evening with her (although we did burn a few calories off later ). However I brought my press-up handles into work and did a total of 120 press-ups over the course of the day. Also did some obliques work for 10 mins when I got home from work.

Diet is the most important thing in all of this, without it you don't stand a chance.

How much a month then m8 to join Roachies Gym?

I think the travel costs would prove prohibitive for me though!

    Friday 11th July 2008

0630hrs - usual smoothie - incl. strawberries, blueberries, banana, pomegranate juice, apple, raspberries, green kamut powder, Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil Blend (containing omega 3,6 and 9 oils), grapefruitseed oil, porridge, soya milk and whey protein powder).

1015hrs Shake -blended up 1 x large banana, 150gms porridge, 40gms whey protein, soya milk & water

1400hrs 250gm basmati rice with Honduran lemon and pepper prawns

1730hrs Shake - 100gms porridge, 50gms Extreme carbs, 40gms whey protein, splash of soya milk & water

Dinner - Lamb shank with parsnips, broccoli, string green beans and carrots. Slice of strawberry cheesecake :o(

Training: Trained back tonight; seated pulldowns widegrip, superset with deadlift. Warm-up set of 15 reps on each then 4 x sets of between 10-12 reps. Then one armed row superset with close grip seated pull down 4 x between 10-12 reps. Finished with 120 crunches and then some other abs and obliques exercises.

You don't need me to tell you that the big let down today was dinner but it was round a mate's so would have been rude to turn it down.

    Sunday 13th July 2008

1030hrs Bowl of Shreddies with soya milk (got up very late lol, took advantage of my missus and son being away)

1430hrs Wholemeal pitta bread with cheese and salad.

1930hrs Lasagne with string green beans.

All in all a pretty poor show for the weekend but I knew I had the head-wetting coming, as it had been arranged for weeks. I have no other booze related plans for at least another month.

0630hrs - usual smoothie - incl. strawberries, blueberries, pomegranate juice, raspberries, green kamut powder, Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil Blend (containing omega 3,6 and 9 oils), grapefruitseed oil, porridge, soya milk and whey protein powder).

1000hrs Shake -blended up 1 x large banana, 50gms whey protein, soya milk & water

1300hrs 250gm plain rice with plain grilled chicken breast

1700hrs Shake - 50gms whey protein, splash of soya milk & water

Dinner - 150gms prawns with mixed veg (carrots, sweetcorn, peas, brocolli).

Training: 80 push -ups throughout the day. Got home late from work and baby was playing up so didn't train which I was a little pissed off about. As I've said before if we all had more time (no jobs, family commitments etc) we could look the nuts as we could spend all day training

I rate them for their versatility:
    1. You can do them anywhere.
    2. You can vary the level of difficulty (with weights, increasing the incline etc)
    3. You can hit a good variety of muscle groups by doing them properly (primarily your chest but also arms, a bit of shoulders and even abs)
    4. Your ability and the amount you can do increses very quickly.
I'd never restrict a muscle groups development to one exercise, for example with training chest you need to hit it with heavy and light weights, high reps and low reps, use different angles, incline, flat and decline, barbells and dumbells etc etc. But as an all round comprehensive movement press-ups are pretty great

The other good thing about press-ups is that they are free, no kit required, and there are plenty of workouts you can do that won't need any financial outlay.

Cutting the carbs has hit me hard to today as I am fucking starving lol. Just had a mid afternoon snack of 3 hard boiled eggs chopped up with some black pepper in an attempt to stave off the hunger but it's done fuck all :o(

0630hrs - usual smoothie - incl. strawberries, blueberries, pomegranate juice, redcurrants, raspberries, green kamut powder, Udo's Choice Ultimate Oil Blend (containing omega 3,6 and 9 oils), grapefruitseed oil, porridge, soya milk and whey protein powder).

1000hrs Shake -blended up 1 x large banana, 50gms whey protein, soya milk & water

1300hrs A very light salad of iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, prawns and sliced new potatoes.

1500hrs 3 hard boiled eggs chopped with some black pepper.

1730hrs Shake - 50gms whey protein, splash of soya milk & water

Dinner - 2 x chicken breasts with mixed veg (carrots, peas, sweetcorn and broccoli) and 2 small slices of Halloumi cheese :o(

Training: Good session tonight. Went for back again as it's a new training week. Started with wide grip pull ups. Bent over row 1 x 15 warm-up then 5 x 12reps. Then seated-row 4 x 12reps. One armed row 3 x 10 reps each side. Finished off with some abs and biceps (4 x12 standing cable curls).

Note: The recurring theme in my dinners of mixed veg is because we buy large bags of mixed frozen vegetables.

I was so close to having a drop of red wine with my dinner, I even got a glass out of the cupboard for myself when I was getting one for my missus but put it back lol. It's just that initial temptation that has to be quelled and then it's fine.
