N95 8GB Black screen

Hi,
Just took my N95 out of my pocket & the screen was black, thought I may have switched it off by accident, but the phone keys still light up & I received a message, but the screen is still black.
Thought I may have got a bit or rain in it, but it was in my pocket & had no immidate sign of condensation.

After reading a few other posts I think (hope) it's just a ribbbon problem.But I've stuck it in the airing cupboard as a precaution.

Gonna go to my local phone trader tomorrow, just wondering how big a job it would be & the kind of cost?
Don't really want the guy ripping me off, most of his jobs seem to be £50.00 - £100.00

Could be a cracked lcd any signs of bleeding from the screen, can take a look at the phone if needed

If it's ribbon or warranty fault then it should be FOC, water damge or broken screen or fowl play then they can charge what they like.

What's this stuff i read about reformatting the phone? I presume this only solves software problems so wouldn't really apply here?

hows phone got no warranty just cause you got it off ebay course it has
All Nokia handsets have atleast 24 months warranty from new unless stolen.

You reckon maybe I could blag it at a voda shop then? says voda on the case but i debranded it.
How do I find out whre my local service centre is? would they not ask for proof of purchase?

yeah mate, I have an ebay receipt, just checked the link, says there is a service centre near me or I can send it freepost.
Also says 'try to include receipt if possible' (heh-heh!)
I'll be heading that way on sat so i'll bob into the service centre, it's in a carphone warehouse though so not holding my breath.. also says you can send it to nokia freepost, so i may do that if i have no joy.

Phoned em up again today, they received it on 17th had it in for repair yesterday, putting it on soak test today just to make sure, then posting it back tomorrow.
Not bad really for free considering I didn't send any proof of purchase or owt. Good job i still had my N73 to use in the meantime....
Wonder if they will repair the faulty #1 key if I sent that back to em?
I'm pretty sure that one is out of warrenty now, any way of telling the manufacturing date?
Mind you THAT one definately had water damage, so they would probably send it back with a polite "shove it up your arse!" ..... maybe that would be taking the piss a bit too much

Got my N95 8gb back on thurs morning, they have replaced the entire front slider!! - the one I sent was scratched, now I got me a brand new one, still has the plastic on

Only problem is for some reason they have wiped all my 8GB mem & also it has all call settings for 3 network, even though it says Voda on case & they asked me which network I use so they can apply their settings.
I checked on NSS & it still has a nokia Euro1 product code, just need to wait for NSU website to start working so I can debrand it again

I would seriously advise you to delete the IMEI number and PM Mobileman. This can be used in illegal activities m8.
