iPod has just a white screen

anyone know whats wrong with it. a friend asked me to see if i could fix it for him but i keep runnig into brick walls.

its just a pure white screen and nothing works on it and when i connect to my laptop my laptop freezes as well

any ideas lads

always worth a shot is the three fingered salute which differs depending on what ipod it is, its a restart of the system and often cures locked up ipods. what ipod is it ? (generation and size)

its an 80gb classic dont know what gen it is m8

you put on hold, then take it off hold, then you press the menu and centre button for 6 seconds and then it resets

might not be this but its worth a go

tried that already it resets alright but the white screen comes back on

When my wife's did this, I did a similar thing to maltloaf but little different.

Hold on, hold off 3 times and then up and down 3 or 4 times. (or possibly left and right) but it defo worked on the 80gb ipod.

Dunno about this model but I think all iPods have a "disk mode" which if you can get it into you can re-flash it. Might be worth a try - I've nerfed several ipods with rockbox and ipod linux and it always gets it back.
