Landrover Discovery 2003 bcu

i have corrected the mileage in tne instrument cluster but need a little help on the bcu correcting i know you need to un solder 3 pins and lift them on the main chip butn do you need to re solder them back down after correction??
some help/info would be much appreciated

im using tacho universal 2008 whats the chances of lifting these pins correcting the miles then resoldering them and the bcu not being knackered???

Depends on how good your workmanship is! The kit will do the job 100%.

er not too sure this is my firts intricate soldering job wish me luck what happens if you just correct the instruments and not the bcu??

whats the best way to tackle unsoldering the bcu pins any tips i soldered wires on to the pins and tryed to correct it that way but no joy

You have to cut the pins then lift and solder to the lifted pins,

my thoughts exactly cut the pins then correct via cut pins then solder the cut pins to what you cut from???!

Any pins/tracks that are cut/lifted when programming need to be put back as before when you complete the job.

My advise is to practise on something a little less expensive and less important than a Land Rover BCU.

Currently they are on back order (and have been for about 6 months) so you will not be able to buy a new one. Secondhand ones are like rocking horse sh1t, and even if you do find one you might find it is locked for re-programming. If you c0ck it up then there is every possibility the car may never run again as the immobiliser runs through the BCU. I have been in this game for long enough now but I still c0ck up the odd pin lifting / re-soldering and still prefer to desolder the whole device where possible, but the difference is that I have experience in putting it right if I do snap a pin off.

thaks for the advise delambo im definately taking heed.... you wouldnt be able to correct the bcu for me would you if i sent it to you ??

Or touch a soldering iron on the solder at the same time hooking the pin up and out just enough to clear the solder pad.

Then afterwards, touch the solder again while pushing and locating the pin into the original location.
