A TOURIST needing the loo at a railway station was killed by having a wee — on a live track.


The victim was electrocuted after he crept into a recess to relieve himself.
It is thought his urine splashed on the line and he died instantly when a 750-volt charge leaped up at him.
Staff found his body after he was filmed on CCTV going into the nook at Vauxhall, South London, and failing to come out again.
The man, a 41-year-old married teacher from Poland, is believed to have been on a visit to Britain to improve his English.
It took police a week to identify the victim after the tragedy, which happened at around 5pm.
The station has no toilets but there are public loos in a bus terminus nearby.
A source said: “Perhaps because he was from Poland he had no idea the rail was electrified. His family back home are heartbroken.”
About 40 per cent of Britain’s 10,200 miles of train track is electrified.

I worked on the trains ,and as trained health and safety , there is a old skool saying dont piss on the live track ,but tbo it is a urban myth the only way he would of killed himself was by putting his his hand's on the live dc track i cant see anyone dyeing from this unless they had pissed in a constant stream .

If you're gonna go for a piss somewhere like that chances are you've been drinking alcohol and as such would probably have a fair amount of pressure in your piss, hence a constant stream.

Highly unlikely to be a continuous stream. Drunk people generally tend to be unable to piss in a straight line (and that causes sprinkling.. all over the place) and you would need to be stock still, completely straight with a stream of probably silly pressures. Drunk people also generally tend to just let piss dribble out as opposed to applying a lot of pressure to force it out.

Nope, the daft twat probably fell onto the line or put his hands on it.

The other option is that the current jumped from droplet to droplet and got him that way but.. again, more likely to have made full physical contact with the rail.

It wasnt just in the Sun, it was in quite a few papers yesterday...

When i was in physics at school and we were using a "van der graaff" generator (google it!) someone went to touch it and the current leapt from the metal ball on the end just over an inch and we all saw the spark hit the guys hand. Our physics teacher then went on to tell us about how current leaps different distances dependant on its power. He said it can jump around an inch for every 100 volts (iirc, it was 15 yrs ago!) so the current jumping up even stray droplets of pee is a deffo possibility. He went on to show us some pictures of someone who had been about 3 foot or so away from the overhead power lines of a train when it started to rain. That wasn't too nice either, again iirc he was wearing a certain type of sole on his shoe that the electric couldn't pass through so it blew one of his legs off!

(I'm sure some of you will argue this isn't true but i did fail physics anyway, maybe he was full of shit!)
