Problem - no sound

i am runing windows vista just got a dell ati2400 pro video card just loaded all the ati drivers and i am going from dvi to hdmi using the dell adaptor as dell have there own cable for the card which i did not know until i sore the card

i am not getting any sound at all using this setup from the dvi to hdmi

in sound properties only the onboard sound in device manager only the on board sound

DVI doesn't carry sound iirc it would need to HDMI to HDMI for video and sound.

You would have to go seperate sound from phono

hi are you sure then may be its only nvidea cards do it cos my onboard sends sound using the same cable i am using on the ati dvi to hdmi

positive hdmi carries audio and pictures but dvi is pictuire only

if your conneting it to the telly rather than a monitor just use a normal monitor lead and a headphone cable and its fine. mines been working this way for a couple of years
