    Default Spread betting?

    Hi Guys,

I have recently got in to trading shares, and am quite enjoying it - but have been recomended to look inot spread betting. Basically its the same thing as trading, except you don't own the shares, and you bet on the share going up or down. I havent actually signed up yet, but was wondering if anyone has any experience of this, or would recomend a way forward..

I have been told to go with igindex.com

    thanks

make sure you research which companies offer the tightest spreads and also are you looking to trade UK spreads of others?

Some UK companies will not let you execute puts, stop losses, etc on "foreign" markets and stocks.

done well, it can be very exciting and financially rewarding.

done wrong and you can easily lose big, so my main advice would be to know your limits and know how to set you stop loss - ie enough to not lose too much money but not too restrictive that it executes just because of a little market volatility.

Also, are you looking to trade on a daily basis, ie close your bids at the end of the day, or are you looking to roll them over – because different companies will charge different fees for keeping a bid open.

Have a go here and see how you get on. Its great and doesn't take that long every day to net a fair bit of cash.

How much would you recommend for starting something like that? If I had 50k to play with on the internet then that'd be as gooder place as any. Been fiddling for the last few hours and it's a good bit of fun.
