    Help Can anyone help me build some Electronics boards??

    Hoping someone can help me out, especially those who do this kind of thing for a living.

    Basically i want a matrix board to power 6 pumps either individualy or in multiples;

    this is what i need it to do;

    i will have 1 input from a custom power supply.

    6x 12v outputs to run the pumps, each with its own toggle switch and status LED (green on / Red off) and the whole board needs a master on/off switch.

    its pretty straight forward but im no electronics master and it kinda confuses me to be honest...

    can anyone build on?? or give me a list of what i need etc and some sort of diagram???

    if possible i would like some sort of timer built in, where i can set the pumps to run for an hour then off for 30 mins on a continuous loop. But this is NOT essential, just a luxury...

    any help would be appreciated

    i could prob draw you something up mate, it doesnt sound that intense, but as for building it, does it need to be on a pcb? could it not all be mounted in a box?

    there ya go, do you get the basics to do the rest yourself? i couldnt be bothered trying to draw a symbol for LED in paint! the sybol before is a low ohm resistor to protect the LED. if you want a Red LED to go when the pump is NOT running you would have to run a seperate neutral (-) to each led and do the take the live from the other side of the switch, if you want me to draw it all properly i will, let me know.

    what is it for as i think this would all look better in a box with DIN rail mountable connectors.

    doesnt need to be on pcb, just neat in a box would work, as long as its sealed in some way, as the fumes from the pumps may get into it etc..

    i have located a PSU whit output 24v so not sure if this will be sufficient to run upto 6 pumps and other gubbins, i am not that technical minded when it comes to electronics...

    here is image of PSU i wanted to use, i think ATX power supply is a little big and was hoping this would do?!;

    that can handle 3Amps what do the pumps pull, will they all potentually be on at once?

    more than likely not, but i was hoping i could possibly run up to 6 of them, it will most likely only be 2/3 at a time. im not entirely sure on how many amps they pull? but i can check tomorrow.

    how much is it going to cost to build something??? i dont mind sending over some cash to cover for parts

    its 12 volts DC mate. but to be safe reverse the whole thing and switch on the neutral. allthough all my electrical training tells me to allways switch the live conductor im sure. but hopefully Kracken will be along soon, he semms to know the regs inside out.

    Agree with PSX. I used to fit alarms to central locking on cars, and one of the things with ford was having to put relays in (that was to change the pulse from positive to negative) but it was basically another relay because we were changing polarity. If it was positive pulse locking the relay on the car for the locking would have done.

    Use a relay and stick some fuses in there mate. 12v can catch fire if there's enough fuel around it. I've seen it before.

    its only working around a solvent environment, this solvent doesnt even ignite unless you drop a blowtorch in its path

    now chill out guys.... me + Safety = dont listen..

    ok some more information;

    the current power supply for the pumps output: 24VDC and 1.17A
    the New Power supply will output 24VDC and 3A

    i was only joking about safety, as long as each one is fused and its in a sourrounded plastic box that can be mounted to a wall were fine.

    the pumps run DC not AC.

    ok just ran a test, and the PSU will run up to 4 pumps at one time, which will have to be the max (but i still want 6 outputs, saves time plugging things in?!)

    so i have the PSU, now i just need to build a circuit with switches???? i could just have illuminated switches???

    anyone wanna build me summit ???? dont have an RS account!? (there expensive anyways!!!) and i dont trust myself with circuits..

    What you`re asking for is easy, but you really need to know what the loading will be.

    What is the FLC/Wattage of the pumps? Individually.

    Presumably you need to cover short circuits of the pumps individually?

    Maybe have a back-up kick in should a pump fail?

    I`d guess you`d like to make it easy to swap out burnt out/dodgy pumps?

    As you`re talking solvents, is there a flash-point related to said solvents?

    Above all whatever you do you need to be sure its safe.

    The actual circuit is Piss easy, control wise.

    Either use relays or use a Programable Relay.

    As the circuit is DC I`d advise using DPDT relays.

    I could possibly get the PCB made for you as the place my dad works has a PCB printer then just solder the components on to it. The only problem he is on holiday for a few weeks but will be back in work in September and I will need to see if he will make it first.

    I would use relays also, use the 24V DC to power the pumps and somthing smaller to power the switching half of the curcuit

    never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups!:thumbup:
