external hard drive

Hi guys posted this before had a look cant find the for mentioned thread
I will be buying a external usb powered hard drive ,a 160 gig one what do i need to do, to it so i can download wmv fhd films on it and watch it on my xbox 360
Anyhelp would be cool even a pointer to the right post .

id have thought buy the drive get the drive filled and then share the folder look for it on your xbox and select file to play, im sure the 360 has a usb connector (ive not got a 360) so you could try plugging it in to that and seeing if you have any look, personally id buy something bigger than 160 though argos had some terabyte drives in for £99 and you'd get way more on that rather than a tiny 160gb drive

Thanks but im sure there software out there that unlocks your usb hard drive so the xbox360 can see over 6 gigs i might be wrong

format in with the mac filesystem (hpfs) using macdrive. It doesn't have a 4gb filesize limit like the File Allocation Table filesystem and can be seen by the 360.

i dont think it "unlocks" the drive m8 i think its probably down to the way the 360 looks at the formatting, i know the ps3 (and i assume the 360 does the same) cant access or view ntfs formatted drives only fat32 which is probably what you were meaning with the seeing over 6 gb (fat32 cant go over 4gb though)

Im haveing problems ive formatted a 40gig hard drive useing mac drive the problem is windows is not seeing the drive :O?
any help please ?

Get MacDrive
Format the HD using the MAC filesystem (HPFS I think)
Copy over the films you want to watch (can be bigger than 4gb)
With the 360 off, plug in the external to the 360 and power on the external drive
Wait 10 seconds then power on the 360
Make sure you change the 360 to look on the external (think its X on the video blade)

As long as you have MACDrive installed the PC will see it so just add films as you wish.

can someone plesae help me as its doing my head in ,im trying to get a pika one extrenal hard drive to work on my pc everytime i initlize the drive it disapears from the page :O but it shows up again in macdrive ?
the hard drive is meant to be 40 gigs but its only showing 37gigs is this the problem , i have done a search and nothing seems to be helping :S

thanks thats what im trying to do its just windows wont see it after ffs
and the only option i have is hfs hfs hfsx
when i try to format in this way it says ,this partion could not be created because an error occurred :element not found :S

here use a prog called "Partition Magic " it fats a drive over 32 gb"
