Problem with typing in ms word

When i type in word i get . between words and a funny symbol after sentences, ive attached some typical text.

Could anyone help me fix it please?

Check your view menu, you have it set to show spaces/returns etc.

it's a weird symbol that looks like a back to front P... the same thing you get as when you press return

it can also be switched on and off in your options, view, formatting marks... just switch them all off
