    Wii New Wii

My kids have bugged me to death, so I'm going to get them a Wii for Christmas. I'm going to get it now before the mad rush builds up, plus it'll give me a chance to chip it as well.
Whats's the best/easiest option for chipping a Wii these days? Bear in mind it needs to be easy to use for the kids.
    Cheers guys.
Oh, and what's the best media for buring disks? Plus do I need any special software (Like ImgBurn for the 360) to burn or can I use Nero? Sorry, I'm a total Wii noob!
Ooh, ooh, ooh, the funky gibbon.

If you're getting a new wii you probably have a D2C2 and will need a D2sun chip.
You can get 'em pre soldered on a wii clip from volumerate or other supplier and it's a simple fit.

Media I always use TDK media with Imgburn and have had no coasters to date!

Just a thought, you may even end up with a D2E but if you get the D2 Sun V3.0 it can be switched to use with any Wii.

I don't think there will be any D2C2's around anymore, its extremely likely to be a D2E, so the D2Sun is probably your best option. I would recommend the solder option for fitting, as (a) you can get your chip cheaper without the clip, and (b) its more robust in that your chip wont suddently pop off one day if your console took a knock.

There is a 7 wire version of the D2Sun now, with only one wire being tricky to solder. I personaly only have experience of the 9 wire chips and its too early to say how well the new 7 wire version is performing.

With regards to media, some Wii's can be picky so I would say use the TY Verbarim DVD-R's (orange packaging) and the Singapore Verbatim +R DL for dual layer games (eg Smash Brothers).

This is lifted from the Wii tracker website:

LEH1356xxxxx - [And Higher] Have either D2C, D2C2, or D2E Chips (You will need to open to find out which is installed)

I'm pretty sure that's not possible, mate. Check out their website http://d2pro.com/

Have a search thru the forum for other reliable chip suppliers.

    D2Sun & Wii-clip available here.

Never used 'em so I would order with credit card and not debit card for security purposes.

According to the D2sun site they are official resellers, but only D2Sun v1.3, v2.02 and v3 support D2E! The site doesn't say what one they are selling.

EDIT: The site says "d2sun v2.02" at the bottom!

So that should be what you need.
