Default need help - can anyone read haynes wiring diagrams?

basically the g/f has a problem with the drivers side electric window on her mk1clio.

I have tried new switches but no joy.

I had a poke on the switch socket and from what i can tell the only pin that has 12v is the one that powers the tiny bulb on the switch. This only has 12v when the lights are on.

Now the passenger window operates fine from both driver and passenger switch which may rule out general fuse issues.

If i scan the relevant part of the manual could someone tell me where the 12v should be for the motor? I have connected an external 12v supply to the motor and it works fine up and down.

Scan it and post it up, I'm sure one of us can locate the correct pin for you (I would expect it to be the same pin as on the switch for the passenger side)

all i would do is turn on the ingntion, and meter out the passenger door pins as you know it works. once you know where the 12v should be you can then trace out the wires, i would check the rubber join from the door to the main shell as they perish and you might have a broken wire there mate. Post the drawing and i will look at it for ya

Scan it up (at a DECENT resolution), and I'll tell you what should be where.

    PS
I assume you checked the fuse, as the nearside & offside windows will normally be independantly fused.

I'd also advise to use a test lamp as well as a meter. Earth faults on cars can throw up some weird readings (Volts there that aren't really - that a low impedance will immediately squash).
Also remember that car electrics are generally earth switched - the bulb, etc is always live and you just switch in the earth return.

You might want to check the wiring loom where it goes into the door. If it is anything like the VW VR6 my missus used to have the live has probarbly snapped due to the door opening and closing all the time.

Pull back the rubber cowl and move the wires about a bit. The cable sheath may be intact but the break in the cable itself could be difficult to find. You may notice a kink, or it may feel more flexible and bend easily at 90 dregrees where it is broken. Not sure what the colour of the wire will be on that car (possible brown) but it should be the thickest cable as it will feed the power directly to the window motor. Would also be worth checking the other cables going through the door.

Could be way off the mark but that would be a good place to start
