Nintendo DS N5 cart - Potential Fix....

    Hey all

Bought my son an N5 the other day, but have subsequently found there is a big problem with them killing DS's...

After some research it seems the SD slot is to blame for the problem, and really could do with been taken off and re-soldered with some extra laquer / insulation on the PCB directly underneath.

I spotted one chap saying he slid a peice of paper under the SD slot to cure the problem of random corruption and the potential killing DS problem

I am not competant enough to de-solder the SD housing/slot/thingy

Can I just slide a peice of very thin acetate (plastic) under the SD "housing/slot/thingy" (ace terminology there ) to cure a potential fuse blow situation?

    Cheers

i tried this mate it dont work, i had 6 of the fcuking things in the end i just threw the carts away and used the boxes as roaches seemed the best use of this pile of crap carts, there have been firmware updates since then but to me it was just the things got to damn hot and draw to much current (remember ohm's law from school?)and bang goes fuse1 on the board or they will just corrupt your mem card from the heat..!!,maybe i just had a bad batch but personally stear clear.!! you can get a r4 clone from amazon with a 4 gig card for £20 quid much safer IMHO...Rob

yeah id say just bin it and buy another card, TTDS can be had for about 15 quid. at the risk of nuking your DS it aint worth the risk.

My N5 lasted a week, was happy with my R4 till I upgraded and now I am happy with my Acekard.

I'd just get a new card if I was you.
