UK gamers will need to get up early in the morning if they are to take advantage of heavily-discounted consoles at several supermarket chains. So impressive were the price cuts that a number of games retailers have been dispatching staff to their local Sainsbury's to pick up some new stock.

Sainsbury's has been knocking £30 from the price of the Xbox 360 and Wii, bringing the 360 to below £100 for the first time. Staff from GAME, Gamestation and other retailers, both chain store and indie, quickly descended on the bargains and re-upped their own stocks.

“With 360 and Wii on sale at these prices we allowed our store managers to supplement their stock,” explained GAME CEO Lisa Morgan.

Shame the gamers didn't get to enjoy the same benefits, really.

So if the ebay-pikeys don't snaffle them to sell for the regular price (or more) come christmas the sodding shops are buying them.

They are cunts for sure i part exchanged a wii zapper at gamestation which was bought for £19.99 they give me a tenner for it and while i was still at the till getting other stuff the guy on the next till said to the guy who was dealing with me if the zapper had gone into stock ? in which he said yeah so he sold it to the women at his till for £19.99 fucking take the piss they do

Have to disagree on Cash converters being thieves. I usually get rid of my old electronics there as they usually give me a lot more than it's worth on Ebay. I sold a very old Dolby digital amp there with no remote and a broken volume knob. I was expecting around £20-30 and the fool gave me £80
Also sold them an old 28inch CRT for £60 along with other stuff I can't think of off the top of my head. Fuck knows how they make a profit on it but who cares, I get more than I think it's worth.

If you bought something New (sealed) and received it as a gift also, none could be taken back. Would you list it as New or Second Hand when putting it up for Sale?

and i cant believe they get away with paying so little for trade ins the bastys.....

For the CEO to come out and say this will not do them any favours, if it was to happen, then it would make sense to keep it under wraps.

Unless Game etc accuire it as 'new stock' and re-sell it under a receipt providing thier own warranty. This is no different to buying 100 from a supplier cheaper than retail and then selling it like they do already.

Only thing thats got peoples noses up is the fact its a big price drop in Sainsbury and GAME are shafting 'joe bloggs' by hogging them.

The warranty is from Microsoft not the store you purchase it from, not sure of the date issue but I always fill out warranty cards and send to the manufacturer. Any issues after say 6 months and I would not go to store, but direct to MS.

It will be on M$'s system that the 360 was bought on xxx date, but if you can provide a receipt prooving otherwise (ie the GAME receipt) then they have to go by the date on that.
