COD4 problem

I am trying to play COD4 modern warfare, iI have installed it and followed all the instructions from the NFO file. But everytime I try to load it up, I get the same message that COD4 did not shut down properly slast time and do I want to start it up in safe mode, but regardless of the option I choose I get the the splash screen flash up then i get back to my desktop. Not sure if there is a fix or how I can fis it. Any help would be much appreciated

i used to get the same error on vista when i tried to play the single player mode

the multiplayer worked fine for some reason

then one day i tried it and it worked!

so i dont know the fix but it may work after abit
