Default Eurovox Flashing Guide for the Blue Red Max V EX5000 pvr & EX1000SL

Being a complete noob I didnt know how to setup a Eurovox, However I think this info will help everyone
    Mooched from afterdawn

These are the cables you will need to flash your box with the new Firmware,

If you have a computer or a laptop with a 9 pin serial com Male socket all you will need is this,

Female to Female Serial Null Modem Cable which looks like this,

    Or this,

Make sure you do not buy just a Serial RS232 9-Pin Female to Female cable, they seems to be quite a few people buying these from mapl*ns, and they look exactly the same,

    M@plins order numbers are,

    L71BT Correct order code,
L68BT <-- This cable will not work!

Of course these cables can be bought allot cheaper from fleabay but this is for example.

If you have a computer or laptop without a 9 pin serial socket you will still need the Female to Female Serial Null Modem Cable as above and this USB to Serial DB9 Adaptor to make it fit into your USB port which looks like this.

You will need to install the Driver that came along with the USB adaptor above, If you dont have the Driver you can download it HERE. I would also advise that if you have a PC with Windows Vista to get to a PC with XP installed rather than trying to get the USB adaptor to work, there has been no end of problems regarding this all across the Forum.

If you have a PC and you are struggling with the usb adapter or you have Vista like me you could install a PCI serial card which is easily added to you PC and with this all you need is the null modem cable which gives you a direct link from your box to the pc.

You will need Winr@r to open any of these Firmw@re downloads, you can get it HERE

Before atempting to put the firmware on your box make sure you do not have a clone, if you put Clone firmware on an original box it will KILL it. There is a Firmw@re available for the Blue Eurov0x only which you will see at the bottom of this post.

Check here to see whether you have a clone.

    8% SIGNAL PROBLEM
This file is an alternative image for people who may have the 8% signal problem.
It can be used by anyone but it is recommended to generally use the previous images
that contain the Signal Boost option.
An option has also been added to turn AutoSort ON/Off in the Powerscan menu.

You will also need a Loader for this Firmware called Dnupman,
    DOWNLOAD DNUPMAN HERE

This Information was gathered from Eamo's Library and SG8s Max V Firmw@re thread so thanks go to these and everyone involved.

How to put the firmw@re onto your box.

    1. Connect your Eurov0x unit to your PC using the Null modem serial cable as shown above in the other post.

    2. Plug in the power cord on the Eurov0x unit and wait until (----) appears on the front display. If it has been flashed before you will see 4 digits instead, leave your Eurov0x on standby.

    3. On your PC/Laptop Run the UFL Eurovox program which you downloaded in the post above.

3a (Optional recommended step to save you time) Press the Upload button to save your channel set up favourites etc as they currently are, Save this to a folder on your PC for use later.

4.Click on the 'download' button then wait until you see the following and click start..

If you do not see this – check your connections between pc & Eurov0x, also if you get the mesage system reset, turn your box off at the mains, hit the download button then plug your box in, (this may require a few attemps).

    5. Now download will start and you will see the following,

Eurov0x unit will now show dnld flashing on the front display.

    6. After the above window – the following will display

7, When all is finished the following will display,

    Now your box is done,

If you did the optional step at 3a, then using the UFL click browse to where you saved your file (CDF file) and click download in the lower box on the Kuro program, and it will reload your favourites etc as you originally had them, if you didn't save your CDF you will have to rescan your box using the powerscan method which is explained below

    HOW TO SCAN FOR CHANNELS.

Please before you get started check and double check that you have the cable feed pluged into your "RF IN" and not the ANT socket.

1, First of all you will need to know who your Symbol Rate, If you get this wrong you wont pick up any Transponders/Channels so download the list linked below before going any further. (if your on Ch0rus use 6875 as your Symbol Rate.)

    Symbol Rate List Here.

2, Now do a Factory Default by pressing ,(Menu) pull right to (Config) pull down then (OK) on (Clear Data) enter 0000 for your pin then highlight (factory default) and press-(OK) then (OK) on your symbol rate. (for the EX-5000 pvr it will show leave recordings or erase recordings)<- this is your choice.

3, Now that you have completed the Factory default you can scan for your channels, go back to the (Menu) screen then (installation) and (OK) on (User Installation) again enter 0000 as your pin, Now press the yellow button for (Power Scan) then a box will load like one of these.

    (If your N*L Dublin use 6887 + start at 290.000 end 420.000)

In each box above notice the Symbol Rates 6887,6952 & 6875, now match your symbol rate which you got from the list downloaded previously to one of the boxes and copy the rest of the information in that specific box to your eurovox powerscan settings using your remote, once after double checking you have entered the info correctly press ok to start the scan.

Once you have scanned in all your channels please take a minute of your time to share your CDF (channel Dump Files) with other users by uploading it to your PC then Here, then post the share link along with your provider and location, Many thanks!

    Cheers
