Tech Some broadband users on their limit

According to a survey by uSwitch, it seems that many broadband users are exceeding or are very close to their broadband download limits.

The problem is that many users appear to be unaware of this, because when they signed up for unlimited broadband, that is what they thought they were getting.

The uSwtich survey also found that fifty six per cent of the internet service providers who advertise their service as “unlimited” actually do impose a limit and are fully prepared to cut the service off from users who go over these limits.

    The uSwitch survey found:

6.2 million customers thought they had no usage cap
7.5 million did not know their download limit
One million have reached or nearly reached their limit
22% of broadband providers advertise the true limits of their packages

It turns out that only twenty five per cent of broadband customers actually read the terms and conditions when signing up for a broadband service.

    Sorry m8 i meant 1 month not 3

I called BT today ( i've been calling them every day for weeks) to ask why between 4pm and midnight my download speeds are cr@p, and i was told that in september, this year i downloaded over 100 meg, and that because i had gone over my limit( 100 gig limit was news to me) that i was being capped for 1 month as punishment.

It's just a rip off to call something 'unlimited' in big letters on advertising when they put restrictions in the small print and I don't personally think it's something someone should have to read the small print to notice.. unlimited should be just what it means.

It's like saying you've got a ten inch cock... but it's only your favourite picture you ripped out of a porn mag.
Or going to a club, paying a set amount to get in and it's 'free drinks' then getting told no more mate, you're pissed... I thought that's the whole point of paying a fortune at the door!
