Live Streaming Help Please....

Hi all. I want to stream an event on my computer so that someone in Australia can see it. (A live gig)

I am thinking to take my laptop, turn on MSN and fire up the webcam built into the laptop so my mate in Oz can watch it.

Is there an easier way of doing this, would it be possible to plug in a normal digital-video camera into the laptop and use somekind of streaming software? (How?)

Not bothered about cost (to an extent) as it is a one-off and we really want to do this.

you could broadcast it on www.justin.tv if you dont want to allow public access just put a key on your channel...guide here how to stream a live event on justin...http://www.myp2pforum.eu/nhl-icehock...justin-tv.html

It doesn't matter how good a camera you use, if you can't get a decent upload speed then your friend is going to be looking at a very small image with plenty of dropped frames and out of sync audio.

Hi there. I have just created a channel at Justin.tv.

At home here it is not too bad but what I plan on doing is filming my band playing a one-off reunion gig and one of the original members is now in Oz so we want to stream the gig live to him.

This obviously depends on the internet connection at the pub we will be playing at, of which I don't know what they have yet.

On the day though can we simply plug in a decent video camera and broadcast it on our TV channel?
