Default VGA to Component (or HDMI)

    All,

I have just ordered a Dual Core Atom Intel board for my home server to replace my previous VIA 666mhz board.

The question I have is, can I get a cable that will convert VGA to Component (or HDMI although I do know that VGA is analogue and HDMI is digital).

I ask because at the moment I have to plug the VGA to VGA on the front of the media receiver for the TV and it looks messy. It would be better if I could go direct to the back of my amplifier that handles the video as well as the audio.

Some google searching is not really clearing the issue up for me

    Cheers,

    Goldberg

OK, So I tested a VGA -> Component cable I have last night on my Advent 4211.

The Laptop set the resolution correctly as per the TV (1280 x 720) however the image on the TV was just flashing black with a white bar across the bottom?? Any ideas?

Seems the Laptop on TV are talking, just not displaying the picture.....

Is the laptop Linux or windows? Sounds like a refresh rate problem.
    If it's windows try Powerstrip:
