My sister has been given a budget of £1,500 by work to get a laptop (lucky cow).
I've told her to get one of the new Sony's with HDMI and BluRay.
What laptop would you get for £1,500? (can't be a mac as she cant use them)

Dell XPS M1730?
Amazing laptops, sold a good few of them.
Get a MacBook Pro and learn to use it it will take about 10 mins to work it out.
Much better machine....
The power packs are a little big, if that is an important factor...
I also recommend the Macbook Pro actually it really wouldn't take that long to learn it at all so unless it is necessary to use Windows it's defintely worth a mention their not only great performing machines they also look good and are practically virus and trouble free.
On the other hand if that isn't an option how about this:
http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/asp/v...=version&page=
Blu-ray recorder, 18.4 inch 1080p screen, dual core, beefy graphics card, 4GB of RAM plus 400GB of storage
It's pretty big but its bursting with features it's a great desktop replacement.
LOL she just emailed me with this: http://vaio.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProd...=1218032875460
Its the Z version of the above Sony.
HP, Dell or Toshiba for well support laptops.
Sony are the has beens of the consumer electronics worlds (a crying shame if u ask me)
Get a Macbook Pro and install Windows on it...!!!!!
That way if she likes Mac OS she can use it if not she can use it as a windows box full time.
It is one of the fastest machines to run Vista on...!!!!!
