Is it safe to jailbreak a 2.2 yet? I got one yesterday, didn't know there was a problem with 2.2 so updated on iTunes happily, now looking to jailbreak and wondering if i should just wait?

In your situation, you have nothing more to lose.. go ahead and jailbreak. The only issue was that the 2.2 upgrade included an upgrade to the iPhone radio baseband. Therefore hackers urged Windows users to wait for a safe version of the 2.2 upgrade that left the radio alone. It only matters if you plan to unlock your phone in the near future since most of the work is being done on the previous radio firmware.

does this mean 2nd gen itouch has been cracked as well
AFAIK there is no jailbreak currently available for iPod Touch 2G. It uses a different processor and bootloader, etc so the current exploit used for jailbreaking iPhones and first gen iPod Touch is not available.
I am sure there are people out there trying to develop a jailbreak for it though.....
does anyone have the Bootloader V3.9 & V4.6 please....
